Chocolate Fondue
A service piece more than a recipe. The condensed milk is what keeps it fluid over a flame for an hour.
Ingredients
- 150 ml heavy cream
- 400 g Franceschi chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 can (397 g) condensed milk
- 40 g unsalted butter
- ½ tsp vanilla essence
- To serve — 3 bananas · 3 green apples · 4 peaches · 12 strawberries · 18 grapes · juice of 3 lemons
Method
Heat the cream together with the chocolate over low heat until the chocolate melts.
Add the condensed milk and butter and stir well.
Add the vanilla and stir until homogeneous. Transfer to a fondue pot and keep warm.
Peel and cut the bananas, apples and peaches, sprinkling with lemon juice so they do not brown. Hull the strawberries.
Dip the fruit with a wooden skewer and eat immediately.
Tips
- Cut the fruit just before serving to prevent browning.
- Orange, tangerine, grapefruit and melon all work.
- Cookies, pound cake and marshmallows are equally at home in the pot.
